Jace "Jax" Prohaska Hofscheier, Port Perry
Lead Singer
Jace Prohaska Hofscheier, referred to as "Jax" by her bandmates, has been singing since she and anyone around her can remember. Growing up in a family with four girls, she drove her sisters nuts singing til' she passed out. This love of singing was nurtured in the church and school choirs, then in vocal and music theatre classes in high school. From there, Jace went on to study both classical and jazz vocal performance at York University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Honours Specialist in Music. She also concurrently achieved her teaching degree in Music and Dramatic Arts, leading to her lifelong dream of becoming a high school Music Teacher.
Jace began singing in bands with a 7 piece funk and soul band, Jace P. & The Big People, where she cultivated her signature growl and performed original music in and around the GTA. From there, she joined a Durham band, Lost in Toyland, where she met current band member, George Morley. The two went on to perform with "Walk The Line", a Johnny Cash Tribute Show touring Ontario, with Jace performing as June Carter Cash. Moving on to other ventures, the two found themselves together again, with a version of the current band, including Gord Bolger. After eight years together, Jaxseat Driver is where Jace has found her home, singing songs by her idols Janis, Aretha, John Fogerty, Alanis, Tracy Chapman, etc.
Jace is currently working on a personal album, writing songs about her two children, Jakson and June, and her love story, with her husband of 5 years, Derek.
George Morley, Whitby
Lead Guitar
George is a self-taught, seasoned guitar player. He's had a long-spanning career, featuring various bands, of all genres and styles, including traveling across Canada with Elvis Tribute Act, "Douglas" and "Walk the Line" Johnny Cash Tribute with bandmate, Jace. He currently plays with Second Shift and lead guitar in Jaxseat Driver. George's extensive knowledge and catalogue of songs, makes him an incredible asset to the band.
Gord Bolger, Ajax
Bass
Gord’s musical adventure began with 8 years of training in classical piano, but at the young age of 53 he decided to change course and pick-up the electric bass. After a few years of fooling around and as good fortune would have it, he ended up playing with a group of very talented musicians. In his off time, he is a Scientist, but don’t let that fool you, when he’s playing music, the Scientist hat disappears. Gord’s music favourites are rock ‘n roll, blues and occasionally sitting in with a jazz quartet and playing standards.
